SOILECTION is HIP!

In-situ soil remediation techniques open up major opportunities for soil remediation. In-situ soil remediation techniques are generally cost-effective and keep site disturbance low. Despite these benefits, in-situ soil remediation techniques are not widely practised in the Netherlands and Europe because of technical and process difficulties. The HIP programme was initiated to eliminate the obstacles and to enhance market confidence in in-situ soil remediation techniques. The programme consists of three components: the pilot programmes, HIP Process & HIP Technique, and the development of this decision support instrument, SOILECTION. The HIP pilot programmes eliminate bottlenecks and fill in knowledge gaps. The pilot projects will also result in the demonstration of successful in-situ techniques.
